A Little About Us

Living Hope is an unapologetically Jesus loving community of believers spread across the wide city of Mobile, Alabama, one of the fastest growing cities in the Southern portion of the United States. Comprised of predominantly young adults, we are a young church with young people who are passionate about spreading the fame of our eternal God to our city and throughout the world.

Hope for Uganda

Caroline Edwards and Rebecca Wattier are currently in Jinja, Uganda helping orphanage workers and the orphans they take care of. They are providing a much needed break, encouragement, and training for the workers. During the course of their trip they have encountered several other orphanages that are in desperate need of our help.

These needs are wide ranging. We aim to continue support through things like long distance training and continued financial support. Right now, however, our goal is to raise several thousand dollars to help provide necessary resources, food, rent payment, etc. to them while we are still physically there.

Here is an overview of the orphanages and the problems they are facing:

Home of Hope has 3 volunteers serving 13 children with cerebral palsy and many of them with malaria also. The home has only ONE sponsor. They need money for rent, linens and hygienic needs.

Moses' Place is home to 25 young boys taken off the street ranging from ages 6-14. They are outcasts from society with nothing to offer Moses (the home leader) but their troubles. They need sponsors, money for rent and food supplies.

Fresh Fire orphanage hasn't seen a paycheck in 7 years though they've been promised one. The women have their own children stay at the orphanage to be with them. They run a daycare on the side to help provide some monetary means for running the orphanage. They are in need of a new house for the girls as 8 of them now cram into a small room with 5 mattresses. The plan is to provide building materials and then help in closing off a chicken coupe outside the home to be used as a new lodging room as well as helping financially and physically expanding the garden that is used to provide for much of their food. The monies will also go towards helping provide a 6 month salary ($150 per person) for the two ladies working the orphanage.

Please visit the blog that has all the details of both the journey in Uganda as well as the needs that have been encountered thus far and that we hope to meet. Further, pray about how much the Lord would have you give to help relieve suffering in the lives of these babies and workers.
